About ARHA

The Abingdon Redevelopment and Housing Authority was formed in 1970 to assist low-income town residents with affordable housing options.  The Housing Authority operates two programs which offer rental assistance to qualified applicants:  the Public Housing program and the Housing Choice Voucher program.  Both programs are income-based.  The Housing Authority owns and manages 28 public housing units ranging in size from one to three bedrooms which are available for rent.  In addition, the Housing Authority provides rental assistance to over 120 low-income families under the Housing Choice Voucher program via a contractual relationship with private landlords.

The mission or ARHA is to ensure safe, decent, and affordable housing for low-income families; create opportunities for residents' self-sufficiency and economic independence; assure fiscal integrity in all programs; utilize housing as a platform for improving quality of life.
